Olds Library Display

IMG_4684_2

The wonderful folks at the Olds Library have invited me to display my jewelry there during the month of June.

In addition to finished work I’ve also included samples of the beads and materials I use, as well as several projects that are underway. Both of these displays have explanatory notes to describe what the various items are.

“Green Fire” (the necklace shown here) is a beautiful piece of dichroic glass that I bought from a friend in Quartzsite, AZ. He makes amazing pieces that often seem to change colour before your eyes — although the pendant appears blue in this photo, if you look closely at the real piece, it seems to change to green the deeper you look into it.

P.S. An unexpected surprise as I was setting up yesterday — a woman bought this piece as soon as she saw it. She’s kindly agreed to let it remain in the display until I can return with a replacement. 🙂

Bergen Thanksgiving Market

Cool days, frosty nights, falling leaves — all signs that fall has arrived. And that means Thanksgiving is almost here.

Are you looking for an enjoyable way to spend part of the Thanksgiving weekend? If so, perhaps you’d like to take in the special Thanksgiving Market at Bergen. Most of the regular summer vendors will be there along with some new faces.

The Bergen Farmers’ Market is set in picturesque rural Alberta. It has a well-earned reputation for the quality of its vendors and its warm, welcoming atmosphere. The coffee pot is always on (and the coffee is free) — and of course you can buy tasty pastries to enjoy with your cuppa.

So mark your calendar — Saturday October 12 from 10 to 1 pm — and join us.

I’ll have my new fall designs for sale — here’s a sample. 😉

You’ll find a map here. (Please note — although this link says the market runs until 4, it wraps up at 1.)

Art Show Followup

The Art Show and Sale that kicked off ARTember in Airdrie was a lot of fun. I got to spend two days with so many creative people — it’s great to be surrounded by such energy.

Oh, yes, I also made some very good sales along with a commission. Here are three pieces that went to new homes. 😉

ARTember Art Show and Sale

September is a great month for artists. Alberta Arts Day, September 30, began as a one-day celebration in 2008 to recognize the contribution artists make to life in this province. That year 100 events in 30 communities marked the celebration.

This special occasion — a 3-day party now known as Alberta Culture Days — has blossomed since then. Last year more than 1200 events over 3 days happened across the province.

Airdrie does even more to mark the importance of the arts. ARTember runs from September 13th to the 29th. The big kickoff happens Friday September 13 with a special art show and sale.

I’ll be at the show both days with my jewelry. Please drop by and say hello. 😉

Bergen Farmers’ Market Opens

If you’re looking for a real country farmers’ market, you’ll find it every Saturday this summer at the Bergen Hall where vendors set up their tents and sell their wares from 10 to 1. This wonderful outdoor market goes rain or shine!

Looking for delicious bread? Seasoned salt? Naturally raised beef? Perhaps your taste runs to homemade chocolates or organic wine? If you enjoy crafts and jewelry you’ll discover those too. There’s live music every week along with free coffee. You can also sit and visit — you can even have lunch. Double N Ranch is offering beef on a bun this year.

I’ve been part of the Bergen Market since it began several years ago. This season I’m showcasing a new line of jewelry. Although I still love working with beads I’ve begun incorporating wire and metal into my work. There will be lots of new pieces to see over the coming months.

If you’d like to contact me or leave a comment, please visit me at my Beau Dangles site. 😉
