Maria Toews

Although her pieces look realistic, Maria focuses on instinct and creating life rather than achieving perfection. Her works are often sketched portraits or landscapes, predominantly painted with acrylic or drawn with chalk and charcoal. Maria Toews is a 27-year old artist who grew up in Alberta. She studied art at Messiah College in Pennsylvania, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts. In 2014 she held a solo exhibition in Harrisburg, PA, entitled “The Big Picture.” Maria was an active member of the Big River Arts Society in Athabasca, Alberta, until her recent move to Didsbury where she is pursuing art full time. Maria is represented in private collections throughout the Eastern States and Alberta.
