Brett Heidi is a contemporary western artist local to Olds, Alberta. Learning from youth with artist parents, she has been sketching custom portraits and painting in oil, watercolour, & acrylic. She has always been involved in art contests, one of which was an international case tractor contest where she won a place in the top ten, she then had the privilege of having her painting be adopted and displayed by the Case Tractor head office.
She continued to create and accept commissions on into her adulthood. Over the past 3 years however, she has developed a particular style using acrylic that leans toward minimalism and impressionism while holding true to the principals learned from the classic artists. During that time, she has been giving her art more serious attention by selling and exhibiting this body of work.
Through experiencing rural as well as urban life, she has drawn inspiration from various perspectives. Her passion for enjoying the simple things in life are reflected in the subjects she chooses to paint. Brett Heidi had the opportunity to live in Mexico where she married her husband. There she was immersed in local culture and was able to discover parts of central Mexico. Brett Heidi and her husband Jose now live in Olds, Alberta where she continues to paint and reach out for new opportunities.
Brett is passionate in continuing to investigate how the perception of colour is affected by light. It’s especially exciting for her to complete a project that emphasizes her own appreciation for a particular subject.
Brett Heidi’s art has been included in collections in Canada, United States, Mexico, South Africa, and New Zealand.
